Wheel Throwing @ NCCC! // All Levels

Class: Wednesdays 6-9pm

Open Studio: Saturdays 10am-2pm

Instructor:  Hedy Yang

All Levels: beginner through intermediate

Join us in Saranac Lake at the North Country Community College Clay Studio this summer for this short, 4-week pottery class. We’ll get our hands dirty and learn new things on the wheel! This fun class guides the beginner through basic ceramics: working with clay, the centering process, pulling cylinders, and creating functional ware on the wheel.  For more advanced students, Hedy will teach new tips and techniques for getting the right form and making larger pieces. We will be learning basic glazing techniques, as well as the bisque and glaze firing processes.  Each participant will take home finished functional wares, glazed and fired in the electric kiln.

The next session begins on Wednesday, July 24th. You may wish to sign up for both classes for 8 weeks of pottery-making! Please note that make-up days are not available for missed classes.

$125 including materials and firings | 4 sessions + 4 Saturday open studio days

Min. 4, max 7

**CLASS IS FULL…

Hedy recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Ceramics at Michigan State University, and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Over the last few years, she’s worked hard to create content for social media that shows her process and the videos have been shared by several major social media outlets such as InsiderArt, Buzzfeed, Elle Decor, and many others. Hedy is an artist-in-residence at Craigardan and has received this year’s Studio Teaching Fellowship.
